Art Pedroza’s parents emigrated from Mexico to Los Angeles in the 1960’s. Pedroza was born in Los Angeles and raised in the San Gabriel Valley. He graduated from Don Bosco Technical Institute and later attended U.C. L.A. and C.S.U.F. He graduated summa cum laude from the University of Phoenix, with a B.S. in Business Management and he completed an MBA in 2006, at the Keller Graduate University of Management.

Pedroza and his wife of 21 years, Camille, reside with their four children in the Park Santiago neighborhood of Santa Ana. They previously lived in the Artesia-Pilar Neighborhood. Pedroza has been actively involved in neighborhood associations in both areas and he served two terms on the board of Com-Link, an organization that comprises all of the neighborhood associations in Santa Ana.

Pedroza served on the Santa Ana Public Library board in the late 1990’s and he realized that the City of Santa Ana was vastly underserved with only one library and two learning centers. One of those learning centers was later closed. By comparison the City of Los Angeles has over 70 libraries. Most of the neighboring cities around Santa Ana have three to four libraries.

Pedroza also served on the Santa Ana Housing and Redevelopment Commission last year. He saw firsthand the problems the City has with decaying inner city neighborhoods and a lack of quality housing. Too often the City Council favors the development of luxury condos and townhomes instead of housing for local families.

Pedroza graduated from the Santa Ana Chamber of Commerce’s Leadership Program. He also completed the Pew Foundation’s Civic Entrepreneur Program. And he completed a nine week course at the Santa Ana Fire Department and is now a member of the City’s Community Emergency Response Team.

Pedroza is a safety director for a local business. He oversees health and safety programs and worker’s compensation administration for over 500 employees in three states.

Pedroza also has taught at Cerritos College since 2003. Pedroza is a certified OSHA occupational safety trainer and a First Aid & CPR instructor. He also teaches occupational safety courses for a number of local companies on a contract basis.

Pedroza is the President Elect of the Orange County Chapter of the American Society of Safety Engineers. He is also a board member of the L.A. Chapter of the National Safety Council.

Pedroza is no stranger to politics. He founded the Orange Juice blog, Orange County’s first political blog, in 2003. He has since added a dozen writers and the Orange Juice recently celebrated it’s fifth anniversary, while surpassing 400,000 site visits and a million page views. The Orange Juice blog was selected the #1 local blog by the OC Weekly last year and it is ranked the #1 political blog in Orange County by Alexa.com.
